It is the 103rd surah of The Quran and the second shortest surah after Surah Al-Kawthar. The meaning of Al-Asr is “The Declining Day, Eventide, The Epoch, Time”.
This surah teaches that all human beings are in loss, except those who have iman (faith). It also touches on doing righteous deeds serves as a reminder of the Haqq (truth, rights, reality). It’s also a message for Muslims to practice Sabr.
Al-Asr is considered by many Quran exegete to be a summary of the whole Quran. It offers a warning to believers not to waste time, information on how to achieve success in life, and outlines a complete belief system for humans to follow based on Islamic principles.
